I saw this post MONTHS ago about making a magnetic chalkboard and knew it was a great idea. I found an old mirror at the antique mall near by. I love the size and shape. It would be perfect over my desk and would help keep me on task for the day.
It was old and beautiful. I removed the mirror first. Then I stepped on an old nail....which led to this post. Please remember to wear shoes when you are working!
I put on several coats of gloss white paint. And then it stopped. Finding the sheet metal for it was harder than I thought...my hardware store didn't carry it. Dad to the rescue! But he has no sense of urgency to get it...so I waited like a good, patient daughter.
That turned out fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the interesting shape. It's more fun than a rectangle. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI loved that post too...It's been in my idea file! Way to go making yours!!! So cute!
ReplyDeleteOh that is soooo pretty. Don't you just love dads that help with our crazy decorating ideas!!
ReplyDeleteFor next time, I found magnetic paint at Home Depot. It works pretty well. Is wood easier to cut than sheet metal?
Thanks for a cute idea!!!
I have an obsession with chalkboard paint right now...the possibilities are endless. Yours looks fab!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you stepped on a nail. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteYour chalkboard turned out fabulous! I love the beautiful curvy shape.
What a great thing to do with that lovely mirror frame. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to get some chalkboard paint and look for something to transform. :-)
I did one and use it one my front porch to welcome guests or wish someone a happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stylish way to stay on track!! I'm jealous, it looks like you get to go to Hobby Lobby!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great - love to see what others do.
