Fairies

Back in March, I read this post from Little Window Shoppe about preparing for the tooth fairy. (By the way, that blog is now closed but she has great things in her archives!) No one had a loose tooth in the house at that time but I thought maybe I should prepare. Gasp! Yes, I would prepare! It would be just like me to be at Target at 9:59PM trying to buy something special for that first tooth on the night the tooth fairy should come. So I shopped weeks ahead of time! I know....it's scandalous!
O lost her first tooth 2 weeks ago after much pain (hers and mine) and drama. If I was a good mom, I would have a photo of her with a hole in her smile. We all know that is beyond me! However, she never did have a hole in her smile because her adult tooth came in COMPLETELY before she lost her baby tooth. AHHH...the guilt is gone!
L lost her first tooth today. There was less pain and drama with this one. She does have a nice hole in her smile!

So here is what I did to prepare. First I bought their tooth fairy pillows. I think they are so cute! I bought them on Etsy from Lil Pink Chicken. I think I paid $10.99 each plus shipping. They did custom colors and monograms. You can add or delete embroidery as you wish. I did as I usually do, told them to do what they thought was best. And they turned out great! I only wish I had bought the little wild man one while I was at it.

O put her tooth in the little pocket so there was no digging under the pillow in the dark trying to find it and exchange it for $1! Making life easy for the momma!

Then I got some books for summer time reading. The girls have really improved with their reading and I don't want them to lose momentum over the summer.

So the tooth fairy comes again tonight! Such excitement in the house! Maybe this "being prepared" thing will become a regular part of our lives.....probably not!

Welcome

Here is a great and inexpensive way to greet your guests...

I bought it from an etsy shop called ScribbleIt. I first spotted them out in blogland months ago and loved them. Wish I could give credit to the person that first turned me on to them, but it was awhile ago and long lost in an archive. Then I saw how reasonable priced they were and loved them more!

ScribbleIt has tons of really creative ideas for walls, cabinets and even refrigerators! They also offer free shipping now and again, if you can be patient! Did I mention that they are easy to apply? Even someone as challenged as I am can do it. Remember to use a level and peel s. l. o. w. l. y. to be sure each letter comes off easily.

When you come and visit, know that you are welcome in my home!

By the way, the color is Sherwin William's Sun dried Tomato.

Tie It Up

In my bloggy travels this week, I found this great wreath for Valentine's Day!

You can find this and other treasures by Lissa at Lissalaneous on Etsy or visit her gallery. She also has clipboards like the ones I created here and a ribbon topiary that is in my future. She has really creative things...go visit her!

I decided to try to make it myself. Off to Hobby Lobby I went...just as the sleet started on Monday night. What a girl won't do for a cute craft project!

This is how my turned out...

Not too shabby for a first attempt! I was too tired to take pictures while I was creating my masterpiece but I will share with you the supplies I used.

12 inch foam wreath
3 yards (should have bought 4) white, wide grosgrain ribbon to cover the wreath
hot glue to secure to ribbon
ribbons of multiple colors and widths (I cut them 10 inches for the thinner ribbons and 11+ inches for wide widths)

I wrapped the wreath with the grosgrain ribbon and secured it with hot glue. I just wanted to cover the foam. This step may not be necessary because the other ribbons covered it well. I cut the small ribbons and started tying...that's it! Easy peasy!!!!

How would I do it differently? I wish I had used a solid pink ribbon. Aside from that, I L.O.V.E. it!

I also bought small heart shaped wreaths to do for each of the kids' bedroom doors. I think I'll let the kids pick out the ribbons and the girls can help with the cutting. What a great snow day project!!

Christmas Card

If you were not on my card list, here is the card I sent out. SO CUTE!! As you can see, the boy refused to cooperate with getting his picture taken. There was a lot of bribery and begging, but the answer remained "No, mommy! I not get picture!" Too bad you can't see his baby blues! The girls, of course, were ready to pose...too ready! That is the most natural picture I could get out of the supermodels.
The card idea came to me but I have no computer skills to create this on my own. So...to Google I went. I googled "Naughty or nice Christmas card" and this is what I found. Yeah for Google!!
Amanda is the owner of an Etsy shop called PaperRamma. In less than 24 hours she created this custom card for me with the colors and wording I requested. The original card in her shop was pink and brown with 3 photos. She even helped me get the photos printed at my local Walgreens!! Now that is customer service!
Go over and look through her store. She has wonderful ideas and is so creative. I have already have ideas for next year...like "Favorite Things." "Unwrapped" would be perfect for any new parent.
Like the old saying says, "When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade!"
